What is Platinum Colic Coverage®?
When you enroll your horses in Platinum Colic Coverage® and follow the program guidelines, you can receive up to $15,000 in colic surgery reimbursement in the event your enrolled horse undergoes colic surgery.
How Much does Platinum Colic Coverage® Cost?
Platinum Colic Coverage® is a complimentary program. You may enroll as many horses as you wish. Just order your eligible Platinum Performance formulas, enroll and complete the wellness requirements to maintain eligibility for colic surgery reimbursement.
How do I Participate in Platinum Colic Coverage®?
Get started in just three easy steps:
- Enroll – fill out the online application for each horse you wish to enroll in the program.
- Order & Auto-Ship - After enrolling your horse, purchase Platinum Colic Coverage®- qualifying formulas from Platinum Performance in buckets or platinum PAKs and place on an automatic shipment cycle with auto-ship. Your order will ship upon acceptance into Platinum Colic Coverage® and coverage will begin 56 days after your first shipment.
- Maintain – To maintain your coverage, be sure and feed your supplements daily and participate in an Annual Veterinary Directed Wellness Program that includes a wellness exam, dental exam, vaccination, fecal egg count test and deworming.
Can I Apply my Platinum Rewards® Points on Platinum Colic Coverage® Orders?
Yes, Rewards points can be applied to your Colic Coverage auto-ship orders. Simply call a Platinum Advisor at 800-553-2400. Or text us at 833-997-5250. Points can be applied to cover the full or partial cost of your order.
Can I Apply for Platinum Colic Coverage® if I Participate in the Platinum Barn Program?
Yes, Platinum Barn Program clients are eligible to apply for Platinum Colic Coverage®. Each horse that is approved and has met all program requirements is eligible for up to $15,000 in colic surgery reimbursement.
Can I Apply for Platinum Colic Coverage® if I Buy Products in Bulk for Multiple Horses?
Clients who purchase Platinum Performance® wellness formulas in bulk to feed multiple horses are eligible to apply for Platinum Colic Coverage®. Each horse that is approved and has met all program requirements is eligible for up to $15,000 in colic surgery reimbursement.
What are the Veterinary Wellness Program Requirements?
The wellness program requirements are simple and follow guidelines for good horse husbandry:
- Complete an annual veterinary wellness exam and any recommended follow-up care
- Complete an annual dental exam by your veterinarian
- Participate in an equine vaccination program administered by your veterinarian (per AAEP guidelines)
- Participate in veterinary-directed deworming program (including 1 fecal test and 1 deworming per year)
Is there an age restriction for Platinum Colic Coverage®?
All horses over 5 months old are eligible for Platinum Colic Coverage® provided they meet the eligibility guidelines below.
If My Horse has Colicked Before, is it still Eligible for Platinum Colic Coverage®?
Your horse may still be eligible provided that it:
- Has not undergone ANY previous abdominal surgery
- Has not had a history of chronic colic (3 episodes in any 12 month period)
- Has not had a veterinary-attended episode of colic (telemedicine included) in the previous 12 months (regardless of whether the veterinarian treated the horse or not)
If My Horse is Enrolled and Then Needs Colic Surgery, How Much does Platinum Colic Coverage® Reimburse Me?
Platinum Colic Coverage® provides up to $15,000 in colic surgery reimbursement.
Is There a Waiting Period After I Enroll My Horse in Platinum Colic Coverage®?
Once you order your Platinum formulas and your horse is accepted in Platinum Colic Coverage®, your coverage takes effect 56 days after shipment. Your Platinum formulas will continue to auto-ship to ensure you never run out.
What if I Get Behind on Feeding the Platinum Formulas?
While it is important to consistently provide the supplements that keep your horse healthy, we understand that sometimes you may get behind. In the event this happens, just contact a Platinum Advisor to delay your next shipment up to 14 days. Your horse will remain eligible for Platinum Colic Coverage® as long as you don't delay your shipments more than 14 days per shipment and a total of more than 28 days in a 12 month period.
My Horse is Insured. How does That Affect My Platinum Colic Coverage®?
You are eligible for up to $15,000 worth of colic surgery reimbursement on approved claims made for eligible horses independent of any insurance or additional reimbursement program associated with the horse.

Where is Platinum Colic Coverage® available?
Platinum Colic Coverage® is available only in the United States.
How does PlatinumVET™ Reproductive Care qualify for Platinum Colic Coverage® if I’m only feeding it during breeding season?
As long as your horse is enrolled and accepted into the program, your horse will qualify for Platinum Colic Coverage® while feeding PlatinumVET™ Reproductive Care. In order to remain in the program once finished with the formula, you will need to switch to one of the other qualifying formulas and re-enroll in the program to stay eligible.
